The Guyot Designs Stainless Steel Water Bottle, The Backpacker model, is a heavy duty solid water bottle that will hold 32 ounces of water. The bottle is made of 18/10 surgical grade stainless steel. You have the ability to boil water if needed provided that you remove the cap and lanyard. Remember, the bottle will be hot so use something such as a folded bandanna or gloves to remove the bottle from the fire or you will get burned. The GSI Outdoors Glacier Bottle Cup/Pot 18fl oz nests very well in the bottom of this bottle making it a nice system to use. I then put it in Maxpedition Bottle Holder 10 inch x 4 inch Foliage Green. This bottle is sturdy so it weighs more than aluminum or plastic but I believe that it is also much more durable. It comes back to the cost/benefit ratio of gear. What is it worth to you to have the extra weight vs. a durable bottle that you can use to boil water?
It has never leaked from the top and this bottle has held up very well. I recommend the Guyot Designs Stainless Steel Water Bottle, The Backpacker model.Got this because I wanted a SS bottle that could also be used to boil water in a pinch. I love the wide mouth which makes it easy to add ice. I did drop the bottle on a sharp rock and dent the bottom but was actually able to remove the dent easily. It does tip over rather easily but that is the only negative in my use of it. I team it with a stainless steel folding cup that the bottle fits into snugly and it all fits great into the side pocket of my pack.

I love this bottle after trying BPA-free nalgene bottles which still tasted like plastic, and Sigg bottles where the inner coating started to come off, and a Camelbak bottle which was hard to clean the straw in the dishwasher, I decided to try this one. I now have three. It''s easy to clean in the dishwasher with the wide mouth, and I bought the humangear capCap to go with each bottle. The "CapCaps" are also easy to clean in the dishwasher on the top rack. I love having the wide mouth to fill and clean the bottle, while also having the CapCap for drinking, with the loop to carry like my old nalgene bottle. I somewhat miss being able to see the remaining water in the bottle, but I can estimate by picking up the bottle or looking inside.I have dropped my bottle a few times, and once it dented in the bottom, but a light tap with a hammer on the bottom removed the dent so that it was stable on the bottom again instead of wobbly.
I also use this bottle with an insulated bottle case that was meant for a nalgene bottle. It fits the case well and does a good job of keeping my water cool in warm weather.
I love these bottles and am very happy with them.

I bought this for bushcrafting AND carrying water in everyday life. I feel that this bottle is perfect for everyday use because it doesn''t give a funny taste to your water, had a convenient shape, and seals reliably. There is an extremely slight taste from the metal, but it''s barely even noticeable. The slip knots for attaching or removing the lid is a nice feature which makes it very easy to clean and use over the fire when you''re out and about. After using this near or over the fire, it takes on a smoky flavor which worried me at first, but it only took a drop of dish washing liquid and some warm water to remove it. This bottles cleans easily and thoroughly.
A nesting cup fits really well over the TOP of the bottle. The loop of cord on the bottle works perfectly for keeping the cup secure on the bottle and from rattling when you are hiking.
This bottle is, in my opinion, the best container for carrying water in everyday life. You can take the loop off the bottle and leave it attached to the lid to make a convenient carrying handle.
As far as bushcrafting, this bottle is very good, but not perfect. This conclusion is based mainly on the size of the bottle and nesting cup combo. It''s gets the job done but there are better. The stainless steel canteen kit from the pathfinder school/canteenshop.com is perfect for bushcraft. If that''s what you are looking for, I would strongly recommend the canteen kit over this. As a beginner bush crafter, this bottle and nesting cup might be a good option as it is significantly cheaper.
