I''ve done enough stuff in the outdoors to know that Nalgene is the leading producer of water bottles and many people would argue they are also the best. However, Nalgene has come under some controversy in recent years because of the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) which has been shown in tests to affect gene expression. Nalgene has claims (and perhaps rightfully so) that BPA is only potentially released from their products when "used at temperatures outside of the designed range". Nalgene bottles are known for withstanding extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, and for being extremely durable. With the controversy of BPA, several competitors to Nalgene have risen in the past few years. Though not "new" to the market, Outdoor Products is one such competitor. I recently purchased the OUTDOOR PRODUCTS .5 LITER BPA-FREE WATER BOTTLE. I have used it on a couple of camping trips and for a few weeks during my workouts. It is a decent water bottle. So, it does the job it says it does. It''s also pretty inexpensive. Also, my bottle came with a free carabineer. On the negative side, unlike Nalgene bottles, you can''t place boiling liquids in this bottle. I also don''t think this bottle is as durable as a Nalgene: climbers I know used to drop their Nalgene bottles off of a 40 ft. climbing tower they frequent to make sure the bottle was a true Nalgene because a true Nalgene would withstand the fall without a crack or dent; I don''t think this water bottle would withstand such a fall. Lastly, the biggest negative is that the Outdoor Products water bottles are all made in China. I try to buy "Made in the USA" merchandise when I can and you can''t do that with any Outdoor Products water bottles.
If you''re looking for an inexpensive water bottle on the fly, this isn''t a bad buy. However, if you''re looking for something made in the USA or that is durable and can withstand extreme conditions, the Nalgene bottles are still your best bet.I bought one of these at Dick''s Sporting Goods labeled as H20 Refresh which is a Dick''s brand and now out of stock everywhere I have looked. These are "Outdoor" bottles are exactly the same with a different label. I like these because they fit pretty much every where in my fridge whereas most bottles are too tall. Beware that the inner drinking accessory doesn''t always fit well, but I seldom use mine. Also the lid is just heavy enough so that the bottle will tip over if it is empty.

For the price, this is one of the best "shaker" bottles I''ve found. I bring 2-3 protein shakes to work with me every day, and it''s so much easier to have them pre-measured and waiting in a bottle. These are small enough that I can toss a few scoops of protein in them before I leave for work, then leave them in my bag until I''m ready to fill them with water. They don''t leak, even when vigorously shaken; or, if I leave fluid inside, I feel comfortable tossing them in my bag for later. The mouth is large enough to accommodate most sizes of protein scoops without spilling. It easily accepts the scoop from optimum nutrition whey protein, and you can use an even larger scoop if you''re careful (think muscle milk size scoop). It holds just over 16oz of liquid, so that''s more than enough for almost any single or double dose of any protein/supplement you would use. All in all, if you''re looking for a "shaker" bottle for your protein/supplements, or whatever else, this is a great choice. I personally own 8, and I feel like I could have more.Read Best Reviews of Outdoor Products .5 Liter Frosted Tritan BPA-Free Water Bottle Here
Cap is tight enough so as not to leak. The little plastic ring is convenient to carry. I wish, however, that it could hold hot liquid also.Want Outdoor Products .5 Liter Frosted Tritan BPA-Free Water Bottle Discount?
