Coleman 1-Gallon Jug

Coleman 1-Gallon Jug, RedMy husband works in a manufacturing facility with large ovens on each machine. It''s hot anytime but in the summer it is brutal. I got this for him to keep cool water handy nearby during those months. At a gallon I was afraid it might be too large at first, but once he adds his ice it is a perfect size. And when he gets home 9 hours later it usually still has ice in it despite being refilled a few times. He really likes the spout on this one, as well.

Keeps your beverages cold, holds a gallon and cleans up easily. Pretty much all I ask for in one of these things.

Have owned this jug for nearly 10 months using it daily. To this point the jug continues to be leak free from the lid and the spout, unlike other water jugs I have owned.

This is not your typical size drink cooler. However, with the hot weather we have here in St Louis, it definitely serves the purpose. My daughter ran out of water more than several times during her soccer games, so I decided to get this larger jug. It kept the water ice cold and held enough that she didnt run out. It is bigger than normal, but she doesnt mind carrying it when she knows she is guaranteed to have water throughout her whole game.

I placed this same review for the 1/2 Gallon Coleman Jug. There is a an older model of the 1/2 gallon jug with rings near the top of the jug. This review is of the Coleman jugs that don''t have the rings at the top (which seems to get a lot of bad reviews.)

I play a tennis 15+ days a month in USTA leagues, Ladder matches and USTA and WTT tournaments. It''s 90+ degrees on the courts and lots of humidity in the summer time, so these jugs are part of my routine with tennis. I use both the one gallon (filled with only ice) and 1/2 gallon jugs( filled with ice and Gatorade) for tournaments, and just the 1/2 gallon jug if I am only going to be on the court for 2 to 4 hours.

I''ve read a lot of comments about how "this jug leaks", which I find to be somewhat misleading. Yeah, mine leaks too if the lid isn''t placed on very tightly, and if the lid is wet when I put the lid on the jug. But when I do keep the lid dry, place ice and gatorade in the jug and THEN put a DRY lid on the jugs, they don''t leak 9 out of 10 times on my way to the courts. And on the 10th trip maybe I get a trickle, and that leak is due to operator error as I didn''t tighten the lid.

When driving to and from the courts, I put my jugs in a small cooler or wedge them in a box so they don''t fall over. Isn''t this just common sense? When I drive with a leak-proof coffee mug, I don''t lay it sideways to test it. I put in in a cup holder and use it as it was intended. Maybe I just don''t expect Coleman and all these companies to issue common sense with their jugs. Don''t lay them on their sides with lids that aren''t secure. I don''t work for Coleman and any company that makes any product. I simply use these jugs and they work great for me. They work so great, I have four 1/2 gallon ones and two gallon ones.

If you want a jug that keeps ice frozen and water or Gatorade cold for three hours in hot weather this jug works great. It works even better if you use a little common sense and place the jug in the shade if it''s 90+ degrees.

Coleman jugs work fine with a little common sense.

So after two uses.. I can give this a somewhat accurate review on performance. I filled it up with 1/2 ice, 1/2 water yesterday at 6PM. I drank it for the remainder of the night and left it in the basement at 72F. Today I came back at 6PM, and there was still ice in there.

High quality jug. I could not find one like this at Walmart.. They always had Rubbermaid junk. This is the real deal folks. It''s big and very insulated. I was surprised how much it caves in, in the inside. That is what allows this ice to remain ice for so long.
