Sigg Wide Mouth Traveller Water Bottle (Alu)

I purchased the 1.5 L, wide-mouth traveller because I wanted to eliminate carrying extra water in plastic while on my long days on the road for work due to the issue with plastics leaking BPA or pthalates when exposed to heat. I liked this bottle because of its large size, and the ability to put ice cubes in the wide mouth. I also liked that the bottle contains no BPA or pthalates. This bottle is certified to contain zero BPA in any part, which is an improvement on previous Sigg bottles which claimed no BPA, but still had some. The lining is made of a resin. My reason for the 3-stars is mostly because of the lining. It''s impossible to find out what this resin contains, and that''s a problem for me. Additionally, if you leave water in the bottle for any period of time, even just a long day, you can taste the resin in the water. My other more minor complaint is that it doesn''t keep iced water cold for very long because there''s no insulation, and therefore, it also sweats quite a bit. This can be remedied by the additional purchase of an insulating sleeve.

Great bottle, light weight, and love the large capacity because I drink water constantly during the day. I really like the double lid (one smaller drinking top and a larger lid that allows a large opening for easy filling. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because this suffers from the same this as most reusable bottles: hard to clean rubber gaskets. Not matter what I do it''s hard to keep the gaskets from turning brown over time. I have not found replacement gaskets for sale, but I would like to see some of these bottles start coming with replacement gaskets so you don''t have to buy a whole new bottle once they become too gross.

This bottle is great. Sigg is very trusted brand and their reputation holds in this product. I''ve owned other Sigg bottles and never had any problems with any of them. They are strong and durable and look amazing. You don''t get a plastic taste in the water like other bottles and, no, you don''t get a metal taste either. This bottle is huge, by the way. It''s taller than a 2-liter soda bottle. But it still is great to have on long road trips, hiking, etc. The wide mouth makes all the difference in the world, too. Being able to add ice easily really makes this bottle worth every penny.

If you''re on the wall about getting one or not, order it. It''s worth it and you won''t be disappointed. It is a great bottle.

I purchased this rather large Sigg because due to the age of the pipes in the building where I work, drinking the water is ill-advised. I carry this in each day along with a standard 16 oz bottle and find it meets my needs well. Typically, I go through the supply in a day or two so sometimes I can leave it overnight. It''s much easier to carry in my bag for work than a gallon of water. Of course, it also has the benefit of being reusable.

The best feature of the bottle is the combination top. It has a screen top lid of standard size so you can drink from the bottle with ease. However, because the bottle is large, I typically just use it to refill my smaller bottle. The base of the cap also screws off and when removed, the bottle is wide enough to easily accomodate ice cubes--a feature I will definitely take advantage of in the summer.

The only con, although it''s an expected one, is the sheer size of this bottle. It has a not too large footprint, but is very tall. I have posted some pictures of it with a standard 16 oz bottle and a mug to give other potential buyers a sense of its scale.
