Sigg Wide Mouth Yoga Mint Water Bottle (Blue)

Sigg Wide Mouth Yoga Mint Water BottleMy 9-year-old loves her Sigg bottles.

The elephant design is both sophisticated to adults and appealing to children.

The wide-mouth bottles come with the small twist-off top (shown in picture), which fits on the other small-mouth Sigg bottles, and a sport top. (There is the large screw-off top and the smaller one attaches to it.) The sport top is easier for kids and more active usage. (I ordered two of these and there doesn''t seem to be a way to indicate which type of top you get. I received one of each.)

This is a skinnier bottle than the small-mouth bottles with the same volume, so it fits more readily into side pockets in backpacks.

The wide-mouth bottles are so much easier to clean without having to use the special Sigg brush. There is also no discernible odor from the inside of the bottle, referring to another Sigg review.

So far, the finish of the bottle has held up, having been in regular usage since August, with no scratches or worn areas on the painted surface.

There are also no visible dents in this bottle. I am not saying that this bottle is more resilient for some reason. The bottle is easier to hold, especially for smaller hands, so I do not believe it is being dropped as often. (There are kiddie sizes available, but they do not hold sufficient liquid for all-day usage at school.)

Pros: the wide mouth makes it easy to fill, including with ice if desired, and easy to wash.

Cons: the aluminum does not keep cool water cool very long, the lining smells like my dish soap, and it''s not very convenient to use both hands to unscrew then re-tighten the lid mid-workout. A couple of times I failed to re-tighten the lid fully enough, then knocked over the bottle and made a mess in my yoga studio. Not cool. Also it''s tricky to unscrew just the narrow mouth part, rather than the wide mouth part, if that''s what you were wanting to do.

Overall, this was just not as great as I thought it would be. I think I am equally happy re-using a plastic water bottle a few times, or it might be just as easy to take a glass of ice water into the yoga studio, if I have to be so insanely careful about not knocking over my water bottle. Good grief.

Maybe it would have worked better without the pictures of the "yoga elephants" on it.
