Sip N'' Go Blue Bottle 17oz/500 mL

Sip N'' Go Blue Bottle 17oz/500 mLI''ve been looking for a decent sized water bottle for hiking during the hot days of summer, and I thought that this might be it. 17 ounces is sufficient for my shot hikes, enough at least to keep me hydrated. But in addition to the amount, I wanted the convenience of something I can carry in my pocket of cargo jeans or shorts. This isn''t quite it, and I''ll tell you why...

In order to get this to fold flat when not in use, it has rather sharp corners like a bag that you''ve folded, but a heavy plastic bag which catch on your pockets. In other words, after each sip, you have to get it back into your pocket and that isn''t as easy as it sounds. What they should have done is made the bottom narrower than the top so that it just slips into a pocket.

The fact that it''s foldable makes little difference until it''s empty. That you can freeze it is great up to a point. When fully frozen, the bottom becomes enlarged to the point where it doesn''t really fit into any of my pockets, SO if you are going to freeze it, lay it down in the freezer. It will still get larger, but at least the bulk will be evenly spread. Oh, and frozen water will be about 14-15 ounces, so you might want to stop just before it''s rock solid.

Again, the idea has merit, but so does hiring a gun bearer to carry your gear and call you "Bwana."
