9.0 oz Thermal Double Walled Glass Water Bottle

9.0 oz Thermal Double Walled Glass Water Bottle w/ Steel FilterI purchased this Libre tea bottle for traveling and bringing to work. I am often too busy to run to the local store or another building of the hospital(where I work) for hot tea during the work day. I love this product. It is really attractive, it keeps my tea warms for hours,is well made, saves me money and is so convenient. It also does not leak, as advertised. The size makes it easy to tote in my gym bag.I have now stocked my desk with an assortment of green teas making every tea break a "special moment." It is well constructed and it was worth the price I paid for it. It will pay for itself in less than a week and a half since I usually hit the snack shop for daily tea at least twice a day. It will also serve to curb impulse buys of snack foods when I make my "tea runs." Overall, a good investment and wise choice.

TL;DR:

This tea cup has some great features but lacks in some serious ways, most importantly that it is VERY easy to spill hot water on yourself. The lid occasionally leaks when brewing and when opening the lids, it will often spray hot water all over your hands! If you decide to buy this, be VERY CAREFUL!

----

Initial I was very excited about the promise of getting this tea container because it appeared it would solve my problem of carrying tea with me while I drive to work.

Since there weren''t a lot of review of this product before I bought it, I decided to just take a chance with it.

However, right after opening the package I started to feel unsure about the ~$30 I spent for it.

The packaging is slick, but once you pull out the cup you see a tacky fake mother of pearl and gold emblem on the top of the lid and an etched design across the top piece. I found this to be unnecessary and a bit disappointing. If the designers kept the design sleek and simple, I''d be a happy camper.

Then you see that the lid is made from plastic (luckily it''s BPA free), which is not clear in the description or photos (I was assuming it was steel or possibly aluminum). Not that big of a deal, but good to know.

The body itself is a glass interior and BPA free polycarbonate exterior which is a nice feature since it prevents breaking.

The bottom piece is some sort of tin or aluminum and feels flimsy. I''m pretty sure after a few months of heavy use it will get loose or fall of, but that is just conjecture at this point...

The actual stainless steel strainer is fine enough for most teas which is great and has enough room for loose leaf tea.

Ignoring all the above, the thing to really know about this tea cup is that it is potentially VERY DANGEROUS!

There are a few ways that I have burned myself so far using this:

1) Brewing the tea requires you to put the leaves in the top compartment and the flip the cup upside down. About half the time I do it (despite the lid being very tight), hot water spills out onto the counter. If you pick up the container, it can dribble out onto your hands. You may be able to prevent this by making sure the inner silicon seals are dry and do not have tea attached to them, which would break the seal.

2) When opening the container after brewing, be VERY CAREFUL to open it slowly as pressure can build up (especially if you overfill it) and more than a few times hot water has sprayed out onto my hands!

3) Also be aware that when you open the container, open the top part first as that will release some of the pressure that builds up in the container. You''ll notice that the water does not drain out. That is because there is a vacuum that is created when brewing, especially if you use loose leaf green tea. You must now slowly open the bottom part until the tea drains into the container. If you do these out of order or overfill your teacup, be prepared to get burned!

Overall, if this thing wasn''t so dangerous, I''d give it a 4 or 5 star. I love that its BPA free with a glass interior and that the strainer works well. I also like the shape.

If the manufacturer could find a way to improve the safety and get rid of the tacky designs, it could be a really excellent product.

Buyer beware!

When I opened my package I loved the Libre Loose Leaf Tea Glass right from the beginning, starting with the pretty box the loose leaf cup was packaged in. I opened the package which contained the glass with a seal. Everything you need to start drinking loose or bag tea. I loved the elegant look of the glass and how durable it really seemed to be. This has to be the best tea on the go glass that I have ever had. I used the glass several times since I have received it and am now even more impressed with its quality, style, and beauty. I think my most favorite thing with its looks is the lid. It is so pretty. I love how it keeps my tea hot for a long time, perfect for when I am going to the store or running a few errands. This is a must have if you love tea and want the ability to drink loose tea in a more functional way.

I really like how the Libre tea glass is thermal, in fact, it has a double wall. This allows the hot tea to stay hot and the cold tea to stay cold, perfect for both conventional and iced tea lovers. Not only is the Libre tea glass designed for loose leaf tea, but you are also able to use a tea bag. Whichever you prefer. When you use the loose leaf tea glass, it keeps your tea hot for approximately one hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. The inner glass is a glass designed to withstand high temperatures of boiling water and will not break. These glasses are not dishwasher safe, but to me that really isn''t an issue, most specialty drink-ware requires hand-washing anyway. Libre Tea glasses are made of Borosilicate glass. The glass is used for scientific equipment similar to ''Pyrex''.
