I bought this canteen to fit the "Israeli Civilian Gas Mask w\ NATO Filter". The tube screws onto the mask''s hydration port easily. The compression valve built into the canteen tube works. You squeeze the valve with your thumb and index finger to take a drink. You release to prevent the flow of fluid.

Minus two stars for ergonomics. The drinking tube is only 12 inches long. You can forget about carrying the canteen on your waist, in a backpack, or any place further than 12 inches away from your face. You either have to hold this next to your chest, or find some way to attach it to your chest or shoulder/upper arm. The canteen does NOT have a belt loop or any other carrying mechanism. It is possible that Amazon carries a canteen pouch with a sling that fits this canteen. I am ordering a canteen pouch and will post back if it fits this canteen and solves the ergonomics problem.

I ordered the "Rothco Vintage Canteen Carry". It solves the problem of how to carry the canteen once it is attached to your gas mask. In its shortest configuration, the carry can be worn around the neck and positions the canteen on your checst for hands-free carrying. It is a perfect fit for this canteen. If you order the canteen, then I strongly urge you to also purchase the "Rothco Vintage Canteen Carry".

the tube included with the canteen IS NOT THE ONE SHOWN OR DESCRIBED in the posting. The one shown was described as being 36" long (it might have been 8) and had a pinch valve in the middle (it did not). After contacting the seller, I was told that he had none of the ones he had advertised and did not anticipate getting any in.

Bought this canteen last week for my Israeli Civilian M4A1 Gas mask & it works perfectly...that being said, I was bit miffed when I recently came across this same item, same seller; but it''s $4 less now. A 33% price drop in one week. If I were psychic, I would have waited. I know it''s only four dollars but still, 4 dollars is 4 dollars; feel I''m owed a partial refund. Anyway, as I stated, this is the best NBC Canteen/ drinking tube combo I''ve seen offered for the Israeli M15 and/or M4A1; it fits the mask perfectly, the seal at the canteen is completely airtight and the drinking tube is much longer(thus much more convenient) than the tube that comes standard with the mask(s).

I purchased this specifically for BurningMan and it was perfect. I have other types of masks and spent more $$. The canister was a ++ and the date on the filter was OK. You would need to understand what a close expiration means, and what type of application you are intending to use this for, but over all it was exactly what I ordered.

Make sure to use the tubing that comes with the canister instead of the mask, just overall works better.
