This is described as a polypropylene water bottle, but it is not. Polypropylene can usually be identified by it''s recycling symbol, a little triangle with a #5 or #5 PP inside. The bottle I received was marked #1 PETE (short for polyethylene terephthalate).I was trying to avoid PETE (or PET) bottles, and was very disappointed that this one was not made of polypropylene. I sent mine back for a refund. The description says "dishwasher safe". but this is not true. After washing it is warped to the point of almost melting. A cheap piece of expensive junk.

... well, for ME, anyway. Here''s why:I''ve been looking for a 1-qt or larger water bottle that is easy to clean, fits in the cup holder in my car, and is leak proof. It also had to be easy to drink from without spilling. I spend several hours a week commuting to (music) rehearsals in a city 90 miles from here, and I need to be able to sip as I drive.
I''ve tried different styles of Nalgene bottles, and while close, they usually fell short in one aspect or another. I''ve also tried a few other brands, including Camelbak, with similar results.
I saw this bottle a couple of weeks ago, and decided to give it a try. I was thrilled to find that it works on all levels: easy to clean (it has a wide mouth, and is dishwasher safe); fits the cup holder in my car, and so far seems to be leak proof.
I like the fact that it has a "pop top" sipper -which is also leak proof. One of my issues with one of the Nalgene styles was that you have to remove the cap in order to drink, and spills are a danger if you''re in a car. You''ll have less of a problem with this with the Lock & Lock version.
It''s also 40 oz -8 oz bigger than the 1-qt. Nalgenes. Don''t get me wrong the Nalgene is a good bottle, but for my purposes, this one just works better.
I now own two of these -one to carry while the other is in the dishwasher.

The specs clearly states that the bottle is "Microwave, freezer & dishwasher safe" but a sticker on the bottle says "Handwash only & No Microwave".I would have returned the bottle but had already unpacked, handwashed and started to use it when I saw the sticker with that info. I like the size and use the bottle for my cold drinks in the gym but it is a deal breaker for me if I can not put it in the dishwasher.... Would have returned it if I had seen it when I unpacked but not worth my time now for $6. Bad deal Amazon!
Update; After 4 months use one of my bottles cracked so it is leaking. I did not drop it. Bottle is just not very good quality. I will look for another brand now.
