Aluminum Carabiner With Water Bottle Holder Attachment

Aluminum Carabiner With Water Bottle Holder AttachmentI bought two of these; one for me and one for my boss. We both travel frequently, on business, and we both attached these to the end of our laptop bags, in order to carry our 20-ounce Mountain Dew bottles everywhere with us. We agree they have been fantastic gadgets that we wouldn''t want to do without. I think I bought them a year ago and they are both still like new. The ONLY downside is that the carabiner could be a touch smaller; but if you spot one you like at a "hardware/outdoors" store, you could simply swap that part out if you chose to.

11/19/09 Update: Soon after the initial review above, I bought a few more, thinking since I said they were still like new, they soon wouldn''t be. While I remain glad I purchased a few more for future use, in the event the originals break or get lost, both my boss and I are still using the two I originally purchased.

Avoid the Sip-N-Clip equivalent to this. The one you''re looking at right now seems to hold up much better. I''ve had mine for about 3 months and worn it for 20+ miles without issue. The plastic fits quite snugly over a bottle''s lip, and I worry about the plastic warping from frequent bottle additions/removals, but it hasn''t shown any signs of cracking, warping, bending, or fraying to point. That said, I do tend to refill each attached bottle a couple of times before removing and replacing it.

I didn''t even have an opportunity to use this water bottle holder before it fell apart. The snap link on it is cheap, the spring fell out of both (I bought two) within seconds of touching. Really. I went to Home Depot and bought more heavy duty snap links and used the plastic and nylon bottle retainer with the heavier snap links. I went out for a long ride and snapped a 12 oz water bottle to the handlebar bag on my bicycle. The bottle slipped off the bag and the plastic retainer did not hold the bottle it fell right out. To be fair, it was a hot day and the plastic probably got hot and melted. To make matters worse, the plastic bottle fell, bounced, and hit a police car. I received a $114 littering ticket as a result.

Forgot to factor in the different sizes of water bottles and their necks, and weight, your mileage my vary; however, mine did not hold the water bottle, it just slipped right through. Again your mileage may vary.
