When I saw these Nalgene kids bottles, I was about to snatch them up for my kids--same sort of lid design but smaller size. However, when I stopped by my local sporting goods store to see if they had any in stock for comparison, I discovered that the Nalgene lid design really isn''t very good. The button it hard to push--too hard to be ideal for young children (the obvious target audience). Even when you open it, it barely opens--no clear "pop" open like the Thermos brand (above). It''s even harder to properly latch closed.
My kids (3, 6, 8) would definitely have issues using this bottle--they could do it but it would be far from ideal and there would be accidents--guaranteed. Don''t bother with a kids bottle that''s hard for kids to use!

I would''ve given this product 5 stars but for the fact that after 3 uses, the cap became really tough to close. My 3 year old son can''t snap it closed on his own, and when I help him close it, even I have to use quite a bit of elbow grease to get it to snap closed. I ordered 3 of these bottles. When the bottles first arrived, they were very easy to snap closed, even for my son. Now, all 3 of them are difficult to close. I specifically chose these bottles because I like that the opening has a cap to keep it covered (unlike other bottles where it''s just a straw that is exposed all the time, not very clean). I don''t think I would buy again.Read Best Reviews of Nalgene Kids OTF Chomp Bottle (12-Ounce) Here
This is a great bottle. Easy to wash, and fits well in my kids lunchbox. It''s been 2 weeks and no leaks. Only giving it 4 stars because it''s not insulated. It would be the perfect bottle otherwise.I bought this leakproof bottle to send with my 4-year-old son''s lunch for preschool. It fits nicely in his lunchbox. He has been using it for the last few days, and it works great. He can easily flip down the metal ring and push the button to open the lid and drink. He has no trouble pushing the lid shut and clipping it with the ring, which then allows him to carry it by the lid''s "loop." The only slight flaw is that when the bottle is empty and the lid is flipped open, the bottle is a bit top heavy and tips. But if the bottle is empty, then it''s not really a problem, I guess! I can see this lasting much longer than my daughter''s CamelBak Kid''s bottle, which will need a one-piece straw replacement for half the cost of the bottle. This Nalgene will not need any replacement anything, which I really like.
