The tube connecting the grey bag to the filter is very long, but it''s also an easy fix: I''ll probably end up cutting and reattaching it.. Right now I have the grey bag for dirty water hanging from a limb about 7'' off the ground, and with everything connected the blue bag for clean water is touching the ground. On the plus side, you have plenty of tube to work with if you need to!
I''m not sure if the whole system is meant to hang as one piece, but that''s how I set it up and I feel like having a whole 4 liters of water pulling on all the hoses and connections can''t be a good thing. Sawyer provides one strap to hang the system, I wish they provided two, the second one being much longer so one can hang the blue bag lower than the grey bag without putting all the weight on the hoses and filter. But again, this is an easy fix: I just used an extra lashing strap I had laying around.
The flow rate... Meh, I guess it could filter 4 liters in 15 minutes. Mine started really slow, but fortunately I had looked over the directions beforehand and remembered that it had said something about "air locks" in the system. So I fiddled around and disconnected some hoses to release the air and eventually everything sped up nicely. I''m sure once I learn how to effectively get the air out of the filter that it''ll do 4 in 15.
The water does have a plastic taste upon first usage but I don''t care. Overall I''d recommend it.I almost bought the platypus but being it doesn''t filter viruses, I fortunately found the Sawyer .02 filter. Lifetime filter guaranteed (million gallon). Fill and hang, gravity does all the work. However Moontrail sells this for $163.00 so get it from them. This compacts well and is light!

The two highly-rated MSR HyperFlow Gravity Kit (with only one bladder, but includes a pre-filter for chunks) and Platypus Cleanstream Gravity Filter System (with leaky single-track ziplock bladders) .2 micron filter kits (removing bacteria) cost $50-$70, while this .02 micron one (also removes viruses for another but weighs pounds with increased chance of cross contamination, see .015 micron Lifesaver Bottle 4000 Ultra Filtration Water Bottle) costs $220 (even the standard .1 Sawyer costs $125). But, fortunately you get what you pay for, as Reilly said earlier, the Sawyer Purifier is the best... although can be found for $200-210 elsewhere (see Rescue Essentials). This kit has many additional extras such as a faucet adapter and hanging strap (but, sadly, not a mesh bag to hold everthing). Also, yellow water in means yellow water out (won''t filter disolved tannins and iron, for example, would require .012 micron filtering). But, as per package warning, sleep with this thing to keep from freezing in cold weather. Important to back flow (simply reverse bladders for a second) after every usage to maintain optimal flow speed (clearly debris as well as air bubbles). With the filter guarantee, may never have to worry about needing to buy another (may make up for the cost increase in the very long run other filters do last quite a while). Note that not many backpacks will easily hold a 4-liter bladder (like the relatively smaller Gregory Z55 can).Read Best Reviews of Sawyer Complete 4-Liter Dual Bag Water Purifier System Here
Quite simply the best all around water purifier I''ve ever had. Very easy to connect and use; and very portable for backpacks. I will use this at home; pack in a suitcase for hotels; and take camping. This is also an excellent filter to have on hand for emergency preparedness. It''s very well constructed and looks like it will hold up well. FedEx messed up my shippment, so I had opportunity to experience Sawyer''s customer service. Refreshingly outstanding. If you read the brief instructions that come with the unit, it states that some parts may vary from the diagram. They incorporate suggestions from their customers, make product modifications, but apparently don''t always update their instructions. I experienced this, but the changes were so minor and connecting the parts is so intuitive that it really does not matter. I couldn''t be more pleased with this purchase.

I''d like to love the product. However the flow after a few uses slowed greatly. When you are on the trail it''s a bummer not to have reliable water source. I tried everything: backflush, vinegar, warm water soak and backflush. Still slow-flow. But what really rubbed me wrong was after 20 e-mails the best I got was basically: send it to us at your expense and we may take a look. After 20 emails I think I know how much they''d care to look. I''ll save my money for another company''s product...
