The mesh handle and pocket work nice, but the kicker valve makes it impossible to get water out of the bottle. I can barely suck water out of this while standing still, while running, forget it. To use this product, I replaced the water bottle it came with and just use the mesh handle and pocket with a normal water bottle.

One big question for a run is what kind of hydration system do I use? If I''m running under an hour, the answer is usually nothing, just drink before and after. For longer runs, is it hand-held, waistback, or backpack w/ a bladder? If hand-held is what you choose, this Ultimate Direction bottle holder works great. I like the spout. Under normal circumstances, you might feel like a baby drinking from a bottle. But it''s a versatile little spout. You can suck it or squirt it. I didn''t think I''d be able to squirt in on myself to cool off, but you can. The holder has a nice pouch, perfect for keys, ID, gels, etc. The only quibble I have is that the strap you can use to tighten it up on your hand wore out so that it didn''t stay tight very well. But overall, a great product.

I originally purchased this bottle in 2009 and used it regularly for 3 years. The drinking tube finally split, so I bought a second bottle. After only a month of use, the hard plastic top split, rendering it unusable. I''m disappointed in the quality of the product this time around. I do not know if it was just a flaw in this particular unit, or if the manufacturing quality has dropped, but I don''t plan on buying a third.
