Infinity DuKJug BPA-Free Backcountry Polypropylene Water Bottle

Infinity DuKJug BPA-Free Backcountry Polypropylene Water BottleI bought this water bottle because I liked the color and sleek design. I also liked that the lid is connected to the base by a string, not by a flimsy piece of plastic that makes the lid bounce all over the place. Water tastes great, no plasticky aftertaste.

But the fatal flaw with this bottle is the lid. It cracks, rendering the entire bottle useless. This has happened to me twice, on two separate occasions, with two different lids. Didn''t drop it, didn''t smash it, didn''t load 50 pounds of gear on it. It just cracked. The fact that it happened twice suggests some sort of design or production defect.

Customer service is a mixed bag. First time it cracked, I contacted the company and they kindly sent me a replacement lid at no charge. Second time I contacted the company, no response. So now I''m stuck with a bottle with a cracked lid.

Overall, a great-looking bottle a sleek and unique design. But a bottle needs a sturdy lid, and this lid sucks, rendering the entire bottle useless. Sorry, GSI!

First let me start by letting you know I''m a scoutmaster for a troop in Maryland so you know I do a fair amount of camping. So what makes this such a great water bottle?

* It holds 32 oz that''s a pretty good amount.

* Has a wide mouth opening for easy/quick pouring and filling.

* Has an optional/removeable insert in the wide mouth so you can take small sips or use a straw.

* Has a rubber grip that allows you to remove it, run a couple yards of duct tape around the bottle and put the rubber grip back. Very handy for when you need a foot or of duct tape on the trail or in camp!

* Most importantly a screw on top. Why''s that important? ''Cause the water bottles with the flip up tops tend to ''flip up'' in the storage area in my van on the way to camping trips and then we get water everywhere!

* Good price I think I got mine for $8

* It''s transparent so you have some idea of what''s in it and how much you have left.

* Well marked measuring in both English and metric

I didn''t notice any checmical tastes or smells as reported by the previous reviewer.

I bought two of these water bottles, and even after several months of use, every time I open the bottle, the water has a strong chemical smell. Hence, even though polypropylene is SUPPOSED to be safe, I am going to look for new water bottles.

This is probably one of the best jugs I have ever owned. I love the fact that there is an actual string instead of a plastic "string" that connects the cap to the bottle. Also included was an insert that lets you just sip from the bottle instead of drinking. I don''t use it so I don''t know how good it is. Overall it is great.

Leaked from the lid the day I got it. Also was very bulky. Was very disappointed. Wound up getting a nalgene.
