I am a bit of a water hog. I usually drink the whole thing in a 1 hour ride. Most people won''t need that much. My advice is to fill it up as much as you need for either your training ride or race.
ALSO You can refill it very easily on the fly.
The only negative is that you need to clean it out well after if you fill it up with Gatorade or some other sports drink (no duh!!!) Otherwise you will get a gross moldy container.
For training rides of 40 minutes to 1 hout I just use water in this. For long training rides I use this filled with water and have either 1 or 2 rear seat mounted bottles with Heed or cytomax mix. That way after a ride I just open the top, dump out any extra water and blow out the tube.
On race day I put whatever I want in it and take the time and trouble to clean it out.
