I bought this for packing up my Jetboil Sol and Meal kit tools. It works perfect for the size of my jetboil and allows me to put an extra fuel can in under or above the jetboil. It''s big. you can put a 2 liter bottle of pop in it. It has a little bit of padded insulation around the bag. It is made of the same material as maxpedition packs.The side pocket is big too.You could put a fork spoon,knife,and cork screw for a bottle of wine and still have more space. You can carry it any way possible. It comes with a strap and D rings and mollys so you can strap it to a pack. Built really to strap to a maxpedition pack. You can put all kinds of stuff in this not just bottles. if you are going on a short hike you can carry a compass.lighter flashlight 24 oz water band aids your phone gps small knife etc. you could strap a knife to the side of it as well as other pouches with molles.

UPDATEThis bag became more useful when I took it off my pack. It really makes a great edc with the strap and it looks like you are carrying a thermos.

I have a taller/larger water bottle than most because its one of the taller hydro flasks. it keeps my beverages nice and cold or nice and hot. So I bought the 12" bottle holder for my Maxpedition backpack. The holder seems huge and is. That 12" is the inside dimension not the exterior, be aware of this. The unit its self is bigger because the bag seems to be somewhat insulated. It should keep a regular water bottle from heating up due to the outside temps. The drain hole will be great for condensation.

I might eventually get the smaller bottle holder they also sell for my regular water bottles.

either way I really like the quality of the item. I know I won''t be wondering where my bottle has wandered off to on my next hike.

The 12 X 5 bottle holder is very versatile. It can fit my 40 oz stainless steel Thermos for going back and forth to work. For hiking it will hold my Guyot 32 oz Backpacker nested in my GSI Bottle Cup and it will still hold my MSR Pocket Rocket and the small fuel (113 gr) canister. Then in the front pouch I can put some utensils, soup packet, hot chocolate, instant coffee. All in one neat package. It is a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion, the workmanship is great and the materials are bomb proof. Excellent product.
