Schwinn Alloy Bicycle Water Bottle Cage

Due to the type of material and/or the forging process used, this cage broke the first day we owned it. To be fair, the bike was pushed onto a bike rack, and that is technically what caused the cage to break. However, we have other metal water bottle cages and the materials used would preclude the same things happening. I''m not a materials expert, but I know that the material used to make this cage is, relatively speaking, brittle.

The cage inexplicably cracked and separated where it was welded or otherwise attached to the separate mounting bracket. It was on the bike for no more than 10 days of riding. I bought this cage because I thought Schwinn still represented reasonable quality and durability. However, this particular Schwinn product was a waste of money. I have one more that has not cracked yet but I will replace it anyway because I don''t want it to fail on the road somewhere.
