Nathan Thermal QuickDraw

Nathan Thermal QuickDraw Handheld 22-Ounce Bottle Carrier with PocketI am someone who divides my "run" into part run/jog and part race-walk. When I race-walk my arms swing back and forth by my sides, which makes wearing anything around my waist unworkable as my arms bump into those little bottles on belts. I could use those large Camelbak type bags that go on your back, but I don''t like the idea of something on my back.

These work perfectly, in the sense that they are easy to carry. Because you can adjust the strap that goes around your hand, you don''t have to clench your hand around them and really hold the bottle, as it will stay on your hand even if you hand is loose.

The one negative is that calling this "thermal" is a not realistic: The little bit of padded fabric does almost nothing to keep the water cold, esp as one''s hand is generating heat. IT''s better than being completely exposed, but only just.

What I did that helps is that I wrapped some "meshy stuff" around the bottle and taped it to the bottle. This provides some air pockets and creates a little space between the bottle and the hand, and that helps.

I''d like to see better insulation but I haven''t found anything else of this type that works as well in terms of staying on the hand.

I purchased two of these 5 miles into a 30 mile run. I didn''t know what to expect being it was my first time using hand-held hydration devices and I did have 3 or 4 different options to choose from. What sold me was the bright colors, comfortable grip, the neoprene sleeve and the nozzle (which can be replaced as well).

30 miles later I have no complains. Yes my arms were a little sore but after two weeks of almost daily use, I don''t even notice it. Sometimes I accidently rip the nozzle out when attempting to pop the valve but thats more my own fault than the products. I keep a house key, debit card and insurance card in the pouch but there''s plenty of room for more. On my long runs I soak the neoprene through with sweat which is not a problem. Plus the sweat does not soak through into the storage pocket.

You really can''t go wrong with Nathan products. I''ve used other brands but am finding that Nathan really seems to cater to runner''s. I am a fan.

I recommend getting this bottle. I use water bottles for mainly hiking (5-13 miles) and running (3-4 miles). Other water bottle I have used have spilled while I was using it and it annoyed me. This one is secured and doesn''t spill. Although the ice does melt, I wasn''t surprised by this. And the little pocket it great for your keys and IDdoesn''t hold much else.

I used this on a 6 mile run today, it is super comfortable and the therma aspect really helped my hand from being cold. The pocket is small enough for a little snack! Exactly what I was looking for and PERFECT!!

I bought these as gifts for the runners in the family. They are thrilled with them.

The bottles have an ID card to fill out that stays in the little pouch. The pouch is adequate for a key (or two). We are in a gated community and the girls can stuff the electronic "key" in the pocket as well.
