Outdoor Research #2 Water Bottle Parka

I love that it fits on the handle bar of my bike. I fill it with ice and gatoraid just before I leave home. THe ice lasts for a good 3-4 hours in hot Texas sun. It might be able to keep the drink cooler for longer, but I can''t last much longer than that myself, so I don''t know what its true limits are.

My husband and I purchased our first Water Bottle Parka 15 years ago; a bit of a splurge back then but we do a lot of hiking. Fifteen miles and seven hours into our Grand Canyon hike, with the temp hovering in the 90''s, we had ice water. That''s right, the ice had not melted and our splurge was instantly worth every penny. We now have two more of these, the kids love them, and the original performs just as great as that first trip it took into the Canyon.

It works for what i bought it for. It''slarger than I thought it would be. I couldn''t find dimensions on the size so couldn''t compare it to the other sizes of the parka.

I haven''t had many opportunities to use this, but so far, it has held up well and my water didn''t freeze going up Mt. Washington last winter or during a spring climbing in the Eastern Sierras.

I purchased this case for my Katadyn pocket water filter. It has sufficient padding and an aggressive adjustable velcro strap that I would trust to attach to the outside of the pack if need be. It ended up being the perfect size for the filter itself and the hose and the accesories that comes with it. There is a little space left that I plan on stuffing with a bandana as a prefilter/extra padding. And in case it isn''t clear when this posts the size I purchsed is the #2. For those of you considering this for a Nalgean bottle this size fits the diameter snugly with approx 3 inches of dead space at the top.
