Sawyer SP181 PointOne Emergency Water Filtration Kit Save 16% off

For the last several months i have been using this filter in a rural Central American country with industrial-strength e-coli and amoebic cysts in the water. Does the job fast and with 10 times better filtration than EPA standards. Initially it did 5 gal. (19 L) in 17 to 20 minutes. Now it has settled in at about an hour for that 5 gal. I recommend a back-flush with the included syringe after every use. The syringe works much better if you slice out the end of the internal threads designed to hold the needle as they make for a leaky fit... takes a very fine-pointed sharp knife. Sawyer has another filter (PointZero Two) with even finer but slower filtration if viruses are a problem. I suspend the water from the ceiling and use some ordinary 1/4 inch vinyl tubing to give a bit more head pressure. I would recommend a pre-filter of some sort if your source has a lot of particulates. Very highly recommended and much better than other filters i have used.

Kit works great! All the parts went together fine. The filter works & cleans well. Lightest filter I''ve ever used & it easily packs away. Store in a ziplock before returning to your backpack. It will leak remaining water for awhile.

Do not use the squeeze bags that come with the kit. They leak immediately. I almost docked it a star for that, but there were so many warnings from other reviewers & I liked the filter (other than the squeeze bag) so well, that I just graded the filter for function & performance. I use my old platypus 1 liter bladder bag to push the water through the filter. That works great. I have recommended it to friends.

This worked awesome to filter water for our camp. Only thing was the hose adapter split the first day but that may have been due to high pump pressure from the pump we used. Still worked very well.
