I''ve been using Nalgene bottles for about 5 yrs now. These are my first BPA-free ones. I drink filtered water (no chlorine) from my bottles and sometimes my old ones got smelly (a faint scent of mold) if I left them out/ someplace warm overnight. I don''t know if it''s because they''re BPA-free now but I''ve occasionally left my new bottles out overnight and neither of them got stinky(!) Also, I have individual bottle coolers (from Eastern Mountain Sports) so they''re always cold. Lastly, I''d recommend the wide-mouth with a splash guard Nalgene Easy Sipperover the narrow-mouth bottlewater in the neck of the narrow-mouth freezes before the rest of it. That''s it. I already own several of these bottles, they are great for everyday use and they clean easily in the dishwasher.

This new bottle has no odor (because it''s BPA free) like the old one I used to have. After a couple of minutes in the sun my water tasted like a plastic factory AND it was harmful! I am glad they fixed ''em. These bottles are tough, you can drop them on rocks when full of water and they''ll never break. The little strap attaching the cap will wear out long before the bottle.

I''ve been using nalgene bottles for almost 10 years and I still use most of them. I''m beginning to replace them and update to the BPA free ones for some peace of mind. I once threw one of the older grey ones off an 80 feet rockface when I was climbing to see what would happen to it. It bounced off a few boulders on it''s free fall from 80 feet and made a loud thump since it was full of water when it hit the rock base below. When I climbed back down I picked it up to find that it was scratched, which was to be expected and there was a little bit of water around it that leaked out from the impact, but the bottle and lid were still in place and didn''t seem to leak water... So yeah these are good bottles. I''m looking forward to buying more clear ones soo I can see how many floaties are in my water when I melt snow to pour into these when snow camping. These also hold up fine in cold freezing weather, i''ve never had one explode. I usually take the nalgene and stick it in my boot with the lid pointing into the boot. In the morning there is ice in the top (real bottom), but still enough liquid water that I have something to drink when I wake up in the morning and the lid is not frozen shut because the bottle was upside down.
