Platy Soft Bottle with HyperFlow Cap

Platy Soft Bottle 0.5L with HyperFlow Cap, GrayThe only issue I had with this bottle is the "Hyperflow Cap". It was very difficult to drink water through it, so I would usually resort to just taking the cap off to drink. Obviously, defeating the purpose of the cap. Other than the cap it performed just like every other Platypus bottle I own. The contour of the bottle did make it less awkward to carry, however. The construction of the bottle is great, very durable. I have never been afraid that I might break or puncture it, and I have tossed it, dropped it, dropped things on it, etc. All in all, it is a good product, but not great only because of the cap. Would I buy it again? Sure, just with a different cap.

The product is great but it would be better if it had a place to clip a leash to it carry easier like the original one. I ended up getting an insulated carrying case for it to solve this issue. The colors make it great to tell which one belongs to who when traveling with friends. I liked the bite tube. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to open and close it. It does not drip or leak at all when closed. It freezes well too and when empty rolls up small like a tube of toothpaste. I wished I would have known that you can buy a protective cap for the top so that the drinking end does not get contaminated by touching other objects Platypus Bite Valve Cover. I found out about that option after I received it. The accessories were listed on the back of the package. I think that should come standard. I also would recommend buying the screw on cap in case you want to pour water out of it easily. I bought the 1 liter size and should have bought one of each size.

The top makes it easy to drink from, but it sticks out so much, its hard to store in the frig. The 0.5L is a little small for me. But it is lightweight for travelling, which is a plus.

I bought this to go on my daily runs. It works much nicer than a water bottle. Its super light to begin with. You can fill it up and it will stand up when full. You can hold it pretty easily when running. If you keep the air out, no water will slosh arounda great benefit. When you are half full, you can fold it in half and it is a lot easier to hold in your hand when running. The mouth valve works great, just as good as my camelback setups. The 0.5liter bottle is a lot easier to carry than the liter bottle (I bought both).

I love theseI had the old style that gave out after 15 years. I had a neoprene pouch for them that made it easy to drink out of and kept it cool and reduced condensation. To my knowledge these new shapes do not have a holster that fits them. They do fit in car cup holders easily but they flop over when they are about half full and the seams are kinda stiff and sharp so I would really like to be able to put it in something. I have hard water bottles of course but I use these as ice packs in my coolers. I freeze them and put them in the cooler and then have cool water later in the dayit does not work as well with hard water bottles.

The half liter does not stay frozen for more than a few hours (definitely not the whole day like the 1 L) and of course it only holds a half liter of water which is really not much (yes I knew that when I bought it and am not faulting the item for that).

The hyperflow cap is super easy to drink out of and does not leak. I feel a little iffy about really getting it clean but so far I don''t see signs of grime building up. My only beef with the cap coupled with this skinny bottle shape is that the bottle itself ends up being very tall (11 3/8in) for the amount of water it holds. The cap adds 1.75in to the height compared to a flat cap! The 1L with hyperflow is the height of a 2L soda bottle making it very difficult to fit into coolers which is why I tried the 0.5L. It fits into my tall lunch coolers but it is tight! I wish they had 0.75L size but realize that is a bit picky of me. Still I don''t think the new shape has enough benefits given that the extra height is sort of annoying.
