The pack contains two main compartments, an ancillary compartment on one side, and a bottle holder with elastic retention strap on the opposite side. In the main compartments I fit 2 emergency ponchos, 2 mylar emergency blankets,1 AA maglite, 1 pair wool socks, 1 pair gloves, water purification tablets, compass, topo map, 25 feet of 550 paracord, fire steel, 3 protein bars, 3 pairs of insta-heat hand warmers, and there is still room for more! In the exterior ancilarry compartment I fit an extra 10 rifle rounds and a small monocular with room to spare. In the bottle holder I fit a 32 oz. nalgene bottle without issue. Like I said, the pack is spacious.
The pack has some extra loops on the exterior for attaching things, and the padded hip pads make it comfortable to wear with some weight in it. The belt must be at least 48 inches long so it will work with larger people.
Great Value for the Price! While looking for some scaled down gear for fly fishing (reducing the overall weight I carry around), I came across this waist pack. Given that almost every pack designed for fly fishing is in the sixty dollar and higher range (sometimes MUCH higher), I thought that giving this inexpensive pack a try would be very low risk. The result is this pack works OUTSTANDING for shallow wading while fishing! The pack easily holds 4 of my largest fly boxes and still has room for a few of the smaller items as well like nippers, dry fly powder and oil, extra tippet, leader wallet, etc.
I will still keep my vest around for those weekend trips to unfamiliar waters where i need to bring the kitchen sink, but for local fishing in the waters I know well, this pack has more than enough room to get the job done! THANK YOU ALLEN CO!
Update:
Both sides of the belt can be tightened or loosened independently. Tightened all the way down, the straps measure 29" laying flat. Both sides loosened all the way out, the straps measure 64" laying flat. I have actually used this as a sling pack once by extending the straps all the way out and throwing it over one shoulder. I LOVE THIS PACK!

Its a good pack the main pocket is big enough for most purposes. I can put my backpack on and it rests well on top of this pack.Great deal. The "water bottle holster" on the side can only really handle a 20 ounce plastic water bottle while hiking. A 32oz nalgene is a bit too wide, and a 24 oz polar bottle is a bit too tall to be secured. However, there''s plenty of room in the main pouch for more water and whatever else you need. I carry my camera in the holster for easy access, and a monocular, the Celestron Outland 6x30, in the opposite zippered pouch. The straps are padded on the side and comfortable enough for me to wear it backwards or to the side. The front zippered pouch holds a poncho, keys, and small flashlight no problem. Defiantly a good purchase for traveling light.Want Allen Company Nomad 3 Pocket Fanny Pack with Water Bottle Holster (Oakbrush) Discount?
