There is a thin rubber insulation strip on the inside of the holder. It''s not really for "grip," but it may help keep a cup from bouncing out a little. This type of holder is for smooth street riding if it''s going on a bicycle (...cruising). If you like to hit the trails and go over a lot of bumps, don''t expect anything to stay in it for long.
The clamp is not adjustable, so application is limited. You have to mount it on a horizontal bar, and if it''s going on an average handlebar, you''ll need extra rubber pieces or shims because the diameter of the clamp is quite large. Others have written that it doesn''t stay in place... well, that''s what the extra rubber or shims would be for.
As for durability... stay tuned. It hasn''t seen a lot of use yet, but I do update my reviews if anything goes wrong. If you don''t see any updates yet... all is good.
