I was very happy with the Platypus water tank. We are a family of 4, and we just hiked through the Grand Canyon for 3 days. I threw a couple of these water tanks in my knapsack, and was able to keep each of our personal water bottles filled through the 110 degree heat. The large zip lock opening makes the water tanks easy to fill; the small threaded cap makes them easy to decant into smaller bottles. The zip lock demands attention to seal, but once sealed it never leaked even with a good deal of bumping around.

I recently used this on a three day Boy Scout outing. The 6 L capacity was very adequate to use for cooking for my five adult Scouters and myself. The zip lock, which has supposedly been improved, is still not fool proof. Only once was I able to get it zipped closed without having to crisscross the handles to keep it closed. I''d have given this product five stars if it wasn''t for the zip lock issue.

I bought the 6L storage tank as an addition to our 3L hydration bladders. It''s great for lugging water to camp and we use it as the "dirty" reservior with the gravity filter to fill both our hydration bladders in one go, or to filter extra water into the Platy bottles for hard hike days, friends and cooking. We''re planning to buy another 6L so we can have a large "clean bag" at camp as well.
