The requirements I had for an aerobar hydration system were:
1) A straw. I''m spending money to reduce time spent fumbling for a bottle, bringing it to my mouth, drinking, and putting it back (with room for error in dropping it.
2) Security. I want something that I can trust to stay in place during long rides and races. I shouldn''t have to worry about it falling off or rattling too much during the race.
3) Refillable. I need to be able to add water or sports drink as necessary during a race.
4) Simple. Some competitor bottles are unnecessarily complicated. Even the original Speedfil (the big jug sitting on the downtube) required routing a surgical tube up your bike and then up towards your mouth. Pretty inconvenient.
This bottle system fulfilled all my requirements:
1) The straw is flexible but sturdy. It won''t break or bend when I need it most. The valve is push/pull to close/open, and then you bite on the tip to suck water through.
2) This is really dependent on your choice of bottle cage. There are many systems available, but the design of the bottle is such that it will accommodate most designs.
3) The slide-open dome top is new design that solves the problem of "quick refill" and "no spilling". It''s way better than a sponge, and more robust than a traditional lid.
4) It''s a water bottle with a straw that sticks out of it. No tube routing required. No rubber bands to tie the bottle down. No sponge. No spills!
I''m super happy with this product, and am glad to have it on my triathlon bike. I trust it very much for iron distance rides.I purchased the Speedfil A2 from my local retailer and did experience a leak. However, after speaking with the Speedfil directly, I realized the gasket between adapter and the bottles was not seated properly. After correcting the issue FLAWLESS! This is by far the BEST hydration system I have ever used and is just so simple and versatile. Thanks Speedfil !

I was a bit nervous purchasing the product having seen some negative reviews on Amazon.com. However, having seen other reviews and speaking with a few athletes which have the Speedfil A2 I took a chance and purchased the product. I am so glad I did! This product is amazing. After an initial struggle with the setup (I failed to properly seat the adapter the first time) I experienced no leaks. I used the recommended setup with zip ties and a cage and it works really well with my aerobar setup! I would recommend this to a friend!Out of the box this did not work for me. The tube that came out of the bottle is attached by a 90 degree elbow joint. It just wasn''t tight enough and as a result the entire straw/tube would twist and ended up flopping way around (sometimes 180 degrees so that it was between my legs) so that I had to constantly grab and move it. Eventually I made something out of plexiglass to hold the tube so that it wouldn''t twist and also stiffened up the tube with a piece of pex tubing, but for the price I didn''t think I should have needed to make my own modifications to get this to work.
