This product helps a lot to keep the water in the tube from overheating in summer and freezing in winter. In winter, you still need to sip fairly often (depending on the temperature) to prevent freeze-up.
The tube director is kind of a pain to get placed right. What I do is get it to where it more of less is close to my mouth and then use my hand to bring it up to take a sip.
I think it was worth it to keep me from drinking the hot water that''s left over from you''re last sip. Nothing worse than a hot mouthful of water when you''re out of breath on a hot and humid day.

This is really a great accessory for Camelbak owners. I''ve done a lot of hiking and mountain biking with my Don Camelbak and even in the morning when it''s not too hot, the sun heats up the tube and the water in it (why the dark blue color?). This means that the first sip can be really warm or even hot and is really uncomfortable. With this product, you never have to worry about that, because only the bite valve is exposed and thus you never get a mouth full of hot water.
