Schwinn Alloy Water Bottle and Cage

The water bottle and its cage sits very well on my bike. It is not getting in the way of pedaling. It catches cold rather quickly, and loses it quickly too in hot weather.

I have a regular women''s 26" Schwinn bike and this water bottle won''t fit into this cage on my bike. Indeed the set appears to fit only a men''s style bike. Plus since the bottle is metal you can''t squirt water into your mouth but can only let it dribble out of the bottle which it does very inefficiently, and while leaking everywhere else. Very annoying.

This may work really well on a man''s bicycle cross piece, but it was awkward trying to mount it on my Discovery hybrid with the women''s frame. I''ve already lost a bolt from the mount which is hanging loose. Heavy sigh.

I bought this in an order with several other accessory items for my bike because I know one can never have too many water bottles. I like that the bottle holder fits perfectly over the attachment for my tire pump that I carry on my bike frame. I don''t like that it is form fitted to this bottle and will hold little else. It is tight and holds the bottle securely. The bottle itself is ok. The opening is too small to easily add ice. If you can get ice in it, then it become uncomfortable to handle because it is a metal can basically. Though it does keep the liquid cold almost as well as a fully insulated bottle. Also the top is hard to drink out of while riding. Again, being a metal can is a liability because you can''t squeeze water out of it while riding. I actually carry this as my second water bottle. When the first one is empty, I pour the water from this one into that, so it is not a waste, just a hassle.

The threads in the neck of this aluminum bottle are NC machined into a ring that is swaged into the body of the bottle itself. They were machined oversize and therefore the lid turns freely in the opening, e.i., it cannot be tightened. NC machines do what they are told, so probably hundreds or thousands were made like this, perfect but perfectly wrong. I''m returning it for a refund because I''m betting the whole lot has this defect.
