I ordered 3 bottles from Amazon. The order was shipped with very good packaging. When I put water into the bottles, I found one leaks near the bottom. After some inspection,
I found there is a thin and long gap between the sidewall and the bottom. It appears that the bottle was put together with the side wall and the bottom, and the defective one is not manufactured properly.
The other twos are working well.I have a couple of issues with the Lifeline 40 oz stainless steel bottles. First off, one of them either arrived with rust in it or rusted within 2 days of me getting it, filling it, and drinking out of it. The metallic taste was unexpected and unpleasant. The bottles are a bit on the thin side. One fell out of my backpack as I was swinging it off my shoulder to put it in my car. The drop was 2 to 3 feet and it completely caved in one side of the bottom and broke a chunk of the plastic cap off so that now I have a handy hole I can drink out of without removing the cap. Hurray!
I no longer carry the other bottle in anything resembling an exposed position. It dropped approximately 3 feet as well, but inside on soft carpet which still caused a piece of the plastic cap to chip off and created a small dent in the bottom of it. I only use the remaining bottle to carry water so that I can pour it into my smaller, much more durable stainless steel water bottles that don''t shatter like glass.
Overall... I wouldn''t recommend this bottle.

For at least 5 years, I''ve had a Lifeline Green bottle that I bought in a store. It has been terrific, so naturally I thought I''d stick with this brand when I bought two more. The bottles that arrived say ECOTanka on the bottom. I had never heard of ECOTanka so I did some searches just to make sure it isn''t actually Lifeline, and I see no connection between these companies. And, the ECOTanka web site itself looks reasonable enough, didn''t get the impression they sell junk. But the outside of the bottles I received smell like cat pee. The inside smells like some kind of chemical. I thorougly washed with soap and water, using a brush to get the inside. That temporarily reduced the odor so I filled it with water and let it sit for half an hour. Then, I opened the cap to take a drink -smells nasty! I''ve encountered other bottles before that had some kind of annoying odor, like a metallic odor, but whatever is going on with these bottles here is just disgusting. I took one sip... had to immediately spit out. It was that bad.
This vendor is crooked. Not only do they not ship what I ordered, they ship a counterfeit of what I didn''t order.

I liked this water bottle at first. It looks great and holds just enough water but the lid broke into 2 pieces after just a few weeks.Had these a few weeks now and really liking them. Nice size and two get me through the day. I haven''t bashed them around too hard but seem fairly durable and no leakage issues. You do need to be careful when screwing the lid on as the cap seems to want to easily cross thread. Still, that hasn''t actually given me any issues as it''s easy to notice. Water stays cool for a long time and even after sitting in a hot truck all afternoon it''s much cooler than my old clear plastic juice bottles. Seems to be dishwasher safe their comment about the paint wearing off made me laugh. WHO CARES?!
