Fit & Fresh LivPURE Filtered Water Bottle

I like the idea of a bottle that is attractively designed that filtrates tap water, so that one can

eliminate dependence on expensive bottled water (that just adds to landfills).

Fit and Fresh has a very pretty bottle design--mine is in a periwinkle blue. The top screw-on/off part is where the replaceable filter goes. The bottom two thirds is wehre you add tap water. It feels good in the hand and is pliable, since you need to press the bottom section to push water through the filter and into the pop-in/pop-out dispenser sports-type top in order to drink.

Here''s the problem: Pressing the bottle forces air through, so you get air blowing into your mouth before the water comes out, and this is kinda uncomfortable. If you keep your lips closed on the top, it''s very uncomfortable. I keep my mouth open and squirt it into the space below my tongue in order not to get my throat air-blasted.

If they could alter the design to make the filtration more comfortable (say, let you flip the bottle over, then drink in a few seconds), this would be a great product. But the squeeze method made me have to remove the stars.

I also am concerned that the sports-pop-top is going to break off. It takes a bit of "pull" to get it to come out, and I fear it will give after a short time to that sort of yanking.

Pretty, but far from perfect. Still, I''m gonna use it at home, where the awkward aspect of drinking won''t be embarrassing.

I agree with a lot of the reviewers. I was very excited to buy this item as my office does not have a water cooler, but I''m looking for a new alternative. The filter does not snap in place like it''s supposed to. It gets stuck on the lid and the bottle "drools" all over the place. I had to bring paper towels from our kitchen to keep at my desk so I could constantly wipe the water that dripped on my desk and on myself. I think it was poorly designed. Great idea, but unfortunately it did not work for me. I don''t want my water bottle to give me a shower everytime I take a drink from it.

This is a nice water bottle...I received one in lime green & blue (shown). They hold 20 oz of water & the filter is in the top part you screw off. You have to squeeze the water into your mouth...it doesn''t come out as well if you suck it out. Overall...a good product to use daily--will decrease use of plastic water bottles

I write this review with unfiltered water all down the front of my shirt and pants! The fit&fresh bottle cracks and leaks before the filter needs changing! I''m on my fourth free replacement bottle and have never had to change a filter because the replacement bottle is sent from Liv Pure with a filter. The company stands behind this product and replaces it for free, but it is not worth the aggravation.

It''s simply bad design. The plastic bottle needs to be pliable so you can squeeze it, but that creates a weak spot where the cap/filter assembly screws on the bottle. Within 2 months a crack appears where the threaded part of the bottle mouth meets the bottle body. The crack is hidden by the large filter/cap. You drink from this bottle in the same way you''d drink from any bottled beverage in that you have to lift it to your mouth, put your head back a bit and angle the bottle so the water can be forced through the filter by squeezing. But you don''t realize it''s leaking until you set the bottle down. The water that leaks out while you''re drinking fills the empty part of the large cap and then pours out all over you as you set the bottle down! Not cool while at work!

I would not recommend this product.

I have both the LivPure and Bobble bottle and a ruler here in front of me while writing this review. I purchased this bottle at my local grocery store as an additional filtered water bottle and I will be returning it. Because of this, I cannot speak to the burst of air that comes before you drink that so many other reviewers have attested to. What I *can* tell you that when the Bobble bottle is tipped upside down first, it does not do this: Bobble BPA Free Water Bottle, 18.5 Ounce I have owned a Bobble bottle for about six months now and much prefer this product it. Here are some pros/cons of the LivPure bottle so that you can make your own determination as to whether it''s for you.

(-) is not BPA-free (makes no claims, at least)

(-) is not Phthalate-free (makes no claims, at least)

(-) bottom of bottle is slightly rounded, not entirely flat; wobbles slightly when put on table

(-) unit too tall; when empty, it tips easily and feels lop-sided

(-) no cap for mouthpiece to keep it clean. Ew.

(-) mouthpiece not replaceable (*it is with the Bobble)

(-) inside filter doesn''t seat easily/perfectly on its own (other users have reported leaks when O-ring slips or isn''t seated properly

(-) design not curvy enough to make it easier to hold in hand (Bobble is curvier)

(-) material on lower half of unit is slippery (but so is Bobble''s)

Pros:

(+) mouthpiece is molded to fit the lips (it fits my lips, at least)

(+) mouthpiece is protected by the curved-top design, so it won''t break off easily

(+) top piece of unit has rubber grip material on outside

(+) good, slim profile for fit in cup holders/water bottle slings (~2-3/4") (~1/8" slimmer than Bobble)

Comparison of the material of the "LivPure" vs. Bobble:

Where the Bobble bottle plastic is more like a (much) harder version of regular water bottle you''d buy in a vending machine (like Dasani), the "LivPure" bottle is made of a molded plastic. There are actually two "seams" on the sides of the bottle, much like you would see in a cheap bottle you''d buy at Walmart or a dollar store. The plastic is the kind that has an almost shiny exterior and slighly oily finish. It is so cheaply molded that the bottom is rounded and does not sit flat on the table, a very poorly executed design.
