This waterbottle mount can be used horizontally (as shown in the product picture) on your handlebars, for instance, or used vertically on your seatpost or your frame, etc. It has a small metric hex/allen screw that can be used to change the orientation of the mount. Other than switching orientation, there are no tools needed to mount this waterbottle cage!

The mount comes with ZERO instructions, which isn''t cool, but using it is very straightforward and pretty much common sense.

It comes with a tiny black rubber shim that you place between the clamp (touching the bike) and the frame/post of the bike. This keeps the mount from slipping and sliding around.

The mount is bit heavier than it needs to be but it''s due to the clamp and quick-release. The actual cage portion of this product is quite light.

The actual waterbottle cage can be unscrewed from the clamp and used, standalone on bikes that already have braze-ons for waterbottle cages.

On the negative side, if you have a skinny waterbottle it can easily fall from the cage. Also, you have to be careful of the angle at which it sits because the waterbottle sitting in the cage can be knocked loose due to hard road vibration or a really hard bump so mounting it underneath your bike, hanging down, isn''t advised.

This is a great solution for anyone that doesn''t have braze-ons for waterbottles on their bike frame or someone who simply wants to carry extra waterbottles and have them placed anywhere on their bike.

Wanted something easy to use and removable. It is easy but when you remove it, you will see it has scratched the paint where you installed it. The makers need to put some sort of coating on the inside to keep this from happening. If I had it to do all over again I would still buy it but take a bit of dip coating and paint it on the inside of the clamping area. This will keep it from attempting to rotate and keep it from scratching the surface you are clamping it to. The company who made this should have taken this into consideration before selling them.

This Bottle Cage works just as it should. It holds securely and the bottle can be retrieved easily. The camlock on the mount will fit and hold on other than round tubes as well (i.e. it fits perfectly on the triangular grab bar on my tractor). I just ordered two more of them. ''Nuf said!!!

I ordered this with high hopes for the quick release function but was soon let down. The jaws don''t open wide enough to get over the handlebar (I have standard 25.4mm bars) unless you screw out the quick release clamp almost all the way. You then need to screw in the mechanism but the tab is pretty small and hard to get any leverage with just your fingertips to really snug it up tight before you close/lock the tab. The result was a grip that was not tight enough to hold a full water bottle steady without the whole cage rotating downward most annoying. I took it off since it was more trouble than it was worth. I was going to sell it on Ebay then had a brainstorm. I happened to have some cushy foam double-sided Scotch tape in my desk so I cut off a strip of that and wrapped it around the handlebar where I was going to put the clamp. I then used an adjustable crescent wrench to get leverage on the quick release tab so I could snug it up really tight. THEN once the tab was closed and locked everything held firm and I can ride without the bottle slippage. This of course defeats the quick-release aspect of it but that''s ok since I like having the water bottle right at my fingertips and the cage holds a Klean Kanteen 27 oz. bottle firmly without bouncing or slipping. If I had to to it over again I probably would have ordered the Avenir clamp-on bottle cage instead but this has worked out ok after my tweaking. Useless as a true quick-release due to the issues described but ok as a semi-permanent mount cage after the tweaking. 3 stars, middle of the road.

Our new bikes didn''t have any mounting bosses on the down tube for a water bottle cage, so ultimately after looking online to see what was out there, I settled on the M-Wave. I think it comes pretty close to the perfect design, but not quite close enough. Not that it won''t do what you want it to do, but for silly reasons which to some people may be real ones.

First the good stuff: The plastic material they use is GREAT! It appears to be a high impact plastic, is strong, and the overall design is well thought out. The "camlock" type clamp can rotate 90 degrees in either direction, but it stays at that 90 degree position. That''s because they thoughtfully designed an interlocking part that only can be at a 90 degree interval (vertical or horizontal only) which is pretty much just what it should be. It tightens up independently of the camlock clamp locking lever.

The locking lever is beefy and easy to use. The clamping range appears to be up to as much as possibly 2" in diameter which will fit many bicycle down tubes (and handlebars of course). The range could theoretically be increased if the threaded screw in the clamp was replaced with a slightly longer one, but in normal use that shouldn''t be necessary. The clamp also tightens up independently of the screw that holds the clamp in a 90 degree orientation.

If you detach the clamp from the cage itself, there are slots for mounting the cage to a down tube with mounting bosses. Just keep the clamp assembly if you decide to mount it on another bike that needs the clamp mounting.

Now the not so perfect, BUT almost: As everyone before me has already said, NO instructions. None, nada, zip. Kind of stupid to do that, but in reality, one doesn''t have to be too smart to figure out what to do or how to use it. Second, there are 2 SMALL rubber pads in a plastic bag stapled to the cardboard the cage is attached to. Again, NO reference to them. Obviously you put them on the clamp to prevent scratching. Rather inadequate in size in my opinion. I used a thin sheet of scrap rubber I had laying around which covered all of the area the clamp goes over. That worked just fine. When mounted, in my case on the down tube of the bike, it holds very tightly with essentially no wobble.

BTW, I noticed some comments that some bottles don''t hold properly or are loose in the cage. My only comment to that is that if you buy a PROPER "bottle cage" BOTTLE, it will hold just fine and won''t fall out. That''s the one with the "necked down" area below the top of the bottle, where the top of the cage bends forward and contacts the top of the bottle. That''s why the cages are all designed that way and a proper bottle is made that way. So the bottles will hold tightly. Just as simple as that. I tried a wide variety of "other" bottles, and essentially, if it''s NOT a proper bottle, with likely either not fit right or be loose or something that you won''t be happy with. I also noticed that there are 2 wide slots in the "arms" that go around the middle of the bottle. I think (but am not sure) they could be used for a Velcro strap that would go around the back of the bottle, over the outside of the 2 arms, and fasten in the front. If so, that would surely hold just about any bottle that wasn''t made to firmly fit the cage as long as it was not too tall, or maybe was a little smaller in diameter. Just a thought.

These are the only real qualms that I had with the M-Wave water bottle cage. That''s why only 4 stars. It''s really a 5 star product, but one should be meticulous in stating what is and what isn''t. I have 2 of these cages, and to answer the "old" question: knowing what I know about them NOW, if I hadn''t bought them, would I buy them now? Answer: ABSOLUTELY!

I wish I had all of this info before I took a chance to see if this was what I was looking for. I hope this helps someone in making their decision. Like I said before, a 5 star product, with a 4 star rating. At the low Amazon price, well worth getting.
