Let me just start out by saying if I could, I would give this product 4 and a half stars. First, the water bottle, it is nice and large, not heavy and the cap goes on tight, but the downside of it is there are no marks on it that say how much water you have in it, but its not that big of a deal. Next, the rope. The rope is so small it''s unbelievable, it seems pretty sturdy though and it could be useful for making snares if you had to, bring it with you, it weighs close to nothing and it will be nice to have. The whistle is alright, the light is pretty bright, and the whistle is loud, which is good. But don''t expect to be able to store anything, I was hoping it would be big enough to store matches in, but it''s not even close. The compass seems to be OK, and I haven''t tested the thermometer yet.The multitool is pretty useless, I''m pretty sure they just included it so they could make their number bigger for the "30 in 1" thing. The thermoblanket, the hand warmers, and the water purification tablets all seem OK, I haven''t had a chance to use them yet though. The knife sharpener is crap. Its a cheap piece of plastic with some metal in it, I don''t know though, maybe I just don''t know how to use it properly. As for the whole reason I bought this thing in the first place, the knife. The knife is pretty darn cool, it''s got some nice rope on it with makes it comfy, and it came surprisingly sharp. The fire starter is neat also, at first, I thought it didn''t work, but eventually it did, and I got some HUGE sparks. Do not strike it inside, they are big, they leave a trail of smoke. The sheath is complete crap though, it doesn''t even have a belt loop (if that''s what they''re called) but hey, it''s a decent knife. Overall, its a decent kit. I really only bought it because I wanted it and I''m a sucker for kits. I wouldn''t pay over $40 for it though. Shipping was good, decent product, happy with purchase.

I give this 4 stars only because there is no way we''re gonna get all that stuff back in that bottle now that we''ve taken it out.. seems a little impractical to take with you, use, and repackage. The stuff inside seems fine. I''m NOT an expert, obviously! It was for my 12 year old and he likes it. We haven''t put to use anything just yet, but it''s cool for a beginner, like him or US I should say, that is just learning about outdoor survival skills. The knife is GREAT!
