However, when the bottle does function correctly, it''s a great little water bottle for the kids. Due to the flaws in construction, it''s only a mediocre implementation. The bottle is a great size, my daughter (2.5 years) loves the color, it''s sturdy and constructed well. And, it takes the standard Brita water bottle filter (2-pack for $6.88) which is inexpensive & easy to find.
Two big problems for me first is, it intentionally leaved behind fluoride. Fluoride is one of our biggest concerns. Yes small doses can help your teeth ... but so can bleach! Neither one should not be swallowed! And new evidence indicates it can actually harm children''s teeth, not to mention dozens of other side effects. Fluoride is a controlled substance that should be prescribed by your dentist if you have dental problems, not added to *everybody''s* water.
Second, the bottle is BPA-free, but not Phthalate-free (phthalates make the plastic flexible & rubbery, but there are other, safer alternatives). Bottles with phthalates should never be washed in hot water, as it releases the chemicals and alter the hormone levels of your child.
So I''m giving it a neutral rating better than most products out there, but I can''t overlook these two big problems. I initially got this for my daughter, but she didn''t like it nearly as much as I did. It''s because green is her least favorite color. However, it''s my favorite, so this colorful Brita Bottle for Kids is now mine. I keep it filled in the fridge and whenever I need H20 there it is. No more do I buy bottled water, so I''m saving money and that''s always a good thing. As for my daughter, she says she''ll use it if I get her a blue one, so I guess I will.

I purchased this for my kids to take to school, where they refill their water bottles at least once during the day. Thought what a great idea to be able to filter the water. I was really disappointed with this product. My son would only get about half way through and the water would not come out of the nozzle anymore. He kept unscrewing the top to drink the rest....well what good is that!! I am not sure if it is a design flaw or mine is defective. I refuse to open the second one we purchased and find out. For the money I paid for these and the cost of replacement filters I would rather return it and cut my losses!!Want Brita Bottle for Kids Discount?
I received this bottle for my 5 year old son. I thought it would be great to take to things like his soccer and t-ball games. It is 13 oz. so it holds plenty of water for him and I love how easy it is to squeeze so he can get a fast drink and get back onto the field. My only complaint was that I did find that if I squeezed hard enough, the bottle collapses to the point where it starts leaking around the top, but odds are he won''t squeeze as hard as I did when I was running the initial bottle of water through the filter as directed.I read the directions and they say to replace the filter every two months or 40 gallons. Since I''m not going to keep a running total of the amount of water, I figured every two months was perfect. I wanted to see how much new filters were going to run me. I searched Amazon. Nothing. I searched the internet. Nothing. I went to the Brita website. Nothing. This is a problem. In two months, I should purchase new filters, but it appears they don''t exist. I also don''t feel like I can accurately review a product without knowing what kind of long term cost I''m looking at in filters. Hopefully, they''ll be available by the time I need them.
