This holder has a Velcro strap which will wrap around your 1.5" belt, preventing the whole thing from bouncing around and beating up your hip while you walk (as a carabiner-attached type will). It doesn''t look military and doesn''t look like a photography accessory. I also have a great (even better) water bottle holder by Lowepro. It''s more expensive and draws attention to the fact that I''m carrying photo gear. The Lowepro model has a 2nd velcro tab which secures the first one in place. The Fishpond model doesn''t have this, but securely holds my 1 pint stainless bottle on a good hike. I haven''t tried it on my 1L bottle, but the bottle will fit in it comfortably. Either bottle is easy to take out and put back in while walking.
