The clips hold bottled water bottles because they are "all" blown from little test tube shaped bottle blanks with the cap threads and neck already molded, on fairly standard bottle blowing equipment. While there is a little variation lately with the most inexpensive bottled water manufacturers that use smaller, thinner blanks to save a little money and material, even these are held very well if you pinch the ends of the clips together (the ends will stay "pinched" until you "unpinch" them).
If you''d rather not tie a bottle knot (ask a boy scout) everytime you''d rather not walk with a bottle in your hand, these are great. Just clip the carabiner to a belt loop, and you can release your drink with one hand (replacing it takes two, but it is a very easy and fast, no-look process. I keep a few bottles clipped to the outside of my pack during family hikes, and since they hold emptys just as well as full bottles, the rest of the family can replace the bottle they are drinking from quickly and easily. Our family of five has about a dozen of these, purchased in various places including Amazon.
