14 oz Thermal Double Walled Glass and Polycarbonate Water Bottle

I originally bought this tea thermos for a friend. When it arrived, I had to take a look at it myself. Upon looking at it, I decided to keep it and order her a new one because I loved it so much.

From a superficial standpoint, this thermos is absolutely beautiful. The design is simple and elegant. I have had many people (friends and strangers!!) asking where I bought it.

This tea thermos is also very practical. It is double-walled, which helps to keep the temperature roughly constant over a longer period of time as compared to other thermoses that do not have that feature. I have put boiling water into my thermos and let it sit in a room that was about 75 degrees Fahrenheit to test it out. It is no longer warm after about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

For durability, this item is manufactured with polycarbonate outside and glass inside. It also has a BPA-free lip when you keep the filter on. If you wish to drink with the filter off, you''ll be drinking right out of the glass part itself.

There are several different ways that you can use this thermos, which make it even more practical and awesome. First, you can use the glass to steep teas in like the picture shows. This is good for teas that don''t require you to stop steeping after a few minutes. If you''d like to enjoy some tea that do require you to stop steeping after X-amount of minutes, you can put the tea on the top part of the filter, set the thermos upside down, and let the tea infuse the water that way for the steeping time. When you''re done steeping, you can throw the tea leaves out. A last way that you can use your thermos is without the filter entirely. The lid screws right onto the thermos, making it possible to leave the filter off if you don''t need it (for example, with already brewed tea or just water, etc.).

Although the price is a little on the expensive side, the practicality, aesthetics, durability, and overall quality really make this product work. I really love this thermos for those reasons and would recommend it to anyone.

****UPDATE 12/11/12****

After really liking this thermos, I got 2 more for friends. However, I have found several things about this thermos that have caused me to remove 2 stars.

First, is that out of the three thermoses that I received, two of them have had quality issues. One of them had lots of denting in the metal parts, and the other one had a big scratch right on the front of the thermos either on the glass/polycarbonate that I can''t get to because it''s between the double walls. Maybe I just was unlucky and ordered from an "off" batch, but this is very disappointing, especially since I spent almost $40 per thermos. I received a replacement for one, but I told my other friend to just deal with it because I didn''t feel like contacting the company again.

Second, the friend who received the one without dings and dents showed me that condensation somehow got inside of her thermos''s double walls. It''s been a couple of days and the condensation has not escaped. I looked at Libre Tea''s website and it has some information about letting steam escape before screwing the top on, but I feel that it would be better if Libre Tea had included this information in/on the product packaging.

Third, Libre Tea markets this product as one where you can drink straight from the glass (without having the removable filter on). I tried this with black tea and now have a dark spot between the glass and the polycarbonate. Because it is sort of "sealed in" from the sealant, I can''t get it clean. As such, I would recommend that unless you''re drinking water, you should keep the filter on when drinking out of the thermos.

Fourth, the product is marketed as leak-proof, but my friends and I have still experienced leaking, even after making sure to screw the top on correctly and tightly. Usually the leaks are a small amount (several drips down the sides), but even so, this is not leak-proof.

Finally, when brewing tea in my tea glass, I generally use boiling water. After filling the tea thermos with boiling water, I put the cap on to keep it warm. However, if I plan on drinking the tea in the next few minutes (for example, immediately after steeping(, I find that the top is too hot to touch and must use something to serve as a barrier between my hands and the metal lid. As such I would recommend that you leave the top off if you can/plan on drinking it within the next 10-15 minutes after brewing tea with boiling water.

With that said, there are several positive aspects about the product and company that makes the product to be mentioned. First, the product is still aesthetically pleasing if you can get one without scratches/dings/dents, and it works to keep your tea warm. Further, it''s made with polycarbonate on the outside, so I don''t worry too much about putting it in my bag and having it break. I really like this about the product and consider it a major plus as many other similar products are made with glass on both the outside and inside and thus are prone to breaking easier. Finally, I think the customer service for this product is beyond phenomenal--every time that I have emailed to inquire about something, I have been replied to courteously and professionally.

The bottom line, though, is that I feel like I''ve spent a lot of money on thermoses that did not provide me with adequate care instructions and lots of cosmetic imperfections and feel like I let my friends down. :( It''s too bad because I really wanted to love this thermos.

Recently got into tea after a few visits to Teavana.

However, I was not impressed with their portable tea filter carrier it was made of all glass (vs. the combo of glass and poly as this one is) and most importantly, the strainer/filter at the top "snaps" instead of being part of the lid and screwing in thus allowing for any bending in the metal to mess things up really easily.

This item feels substantial and I love how it''s glass on the inside. Comes also with an extra rubber ring.

Dropping this item *will* cause the interior to shatter though as I ordered two and my husband already broke his.

Filter tight enough for small leaves. Easy to clean. My favorite office item.

This is my first Amazon review. I usually don''t care if products aren''t exactly what I expected. I was really excited to get this tumbler. I was really interested in the 2 steeping options. The video on their website makes it seem so easy. My first attempt was to brew a black tea which can only be steeped for 5 minutes. So I poured the hot water in the tumbler, put on the first lid, put in my loose tea, then put on the top lid to turn it over and steep. When I turned it over, water started spewing out the side. I guess my water was too hot. I turned it over, took off the top lid to let it cool a bit and stop steaming. I tried it a second time, and the same thing happened. The other problem is that I cannot get the bottom lid to come off. It''s so tight. I emptied all the water and tea, let it cool down, twisted so hard I thought I was going to break it. It finally came off. I tried this whole routine again. It is impossible to use the tumbler with the timed steeping process. I tried it like a normal tea tumbler with Green tea and it works fine, however I still have to put so much muscle into opening the bottom lid that it''s just not worth it. I can''t imagine taking this with me and using at my desk.

I really love this container for my tea while at work. It''s great and simple to use-just VERY important to ensure that you leave the lid off for a few minutes after pouring boiling water into it...otherwise it will put pressure onto the seal that separates the glass/plastic layers and let tea and moisture seep into the middle layer. I messed up the first one, and the company sent me a replacement container. Have had it for months without any other issues! Well worth the extra $ for this container :)
