MINOURA WATER BOTTLE CAGE HOLDER SADDLE MOUNT

MINOURA WATER BOTTLE CAGE HOLDER SADDLE MOUNTWhat was I thinking? I normally research and research these items. Only after a minor tightening the bracket broke and the whole system is worthless now. Had I read this post would have moved on to a better quality product. Lesson learned.

I second the last reviewer! (and wish he had written it before I ordered mine!) I also tighten the bracket using finger pressure only on the supplied allen wrench only to have the bracket break.

This is a piece of crap. I give it 1 star only because there is no selection for zero.

I bought this to mount two water bottles off the rear of my seat, in addition to the two bottles I have on my bike frame already. (It gets hot in Austin!)

There are designs which clamp to the seatpost, but I didn''t want one of those, as I already have a rear night light which is clamped on the seat post. This product was also more affordable than some other seatpost mounted water bottle racks.

Installation was a snap ... literally. Even though the instructions say "don''t overtighten the screws, or the mounting plate will break," I managed to do it anyway. I wasn''t cranking very hard at all, yet the design is such that that was too much. Had I stopped a quarter turn earlier, the plate wouldn''t have snapped, but I wonder how long it would have lasted with two 30 oz water bottles (which together weigh close to four lbs) bouncing around on it?

Bracket broke on my 1st ride. I heeded the warning and did not over tighten but on a test ride the bottles fell out real easy, so I tightened up the bracket bolts and low and behold about 40 minutes into my 1st ride the bracket snapped off. Wish I would have done my research on this one....

I use a Brooks Saddle and the clamp provided barely secured to the rails of the seat. I ended going to Home Depot to find something else to fashion as a holding bracket and while it held on when riding on smooth roads after 50 miles or so on moderately rough roads it had already shaken loose. It mounts in just the right place to be accurately described as a "pain in the butt" in terms of design and function.
