Just returned from 2 weeks camping in Alaska. Drank clear lake water and rust-colored stream water (long hike, no other choices) -water tasted great from all sources. After multiple uses with cloudy water did become hard to use (difficult to suck the water through) so buying 2 replacement cartridges now. Preferred this to a more complex system offered by a competitor, which was more difficult to drink from, even with a new filter.

Have not tried drinking from a stream or lake source yet but I can say it does work on DC tap water and ice chest water that everyone has had their hands in grabbing soda''s and beers. I trust this product.

I like this waterbottle because you can filter water for other things besides drinking (ie cooking, clean, etc.) The first filter broke after a few uses though. I am going to try again and hope I just got a bad filter the first time.
