As a mom, I love them for the same reason, but also because the core of the bottle is made of stainless steel, a much more durable and safer alternative to plastic. They also keep cold beverages insulated better than plastic. They are also just the right size to fit into a convetional lunchbox.
BUT, I have complaints.
1) The exterior design, made of some type of laminate, peels off the bottle after just a short amount of routine wear and hand washing. I have the bottles for just about a month now, and they are all peeling in the same spot: bottom seam.
2) Not dishwasher safe. Need I say more.
3) The drinking spout is loose and if not shut all the way, it will leak. So I place the bottles in a ziploc freezer bag before packing them in a lunchbox.
4) The metal will react to certain acidic drinks... like apple juice. After about 10 hours in the bottle, the juice had a vinegary taste.
For ten bucks, this should be a better product. But looks alone, it would win a beauty contest.

my 6 1/2 year old wanted this to replace a lost spce-themed sigg he took everyday to school. His teacher asked me to replace this one because it leaked, making all of his papers and folders wet. The lid is difficult to push all the way down and often looks closed but is just open enough to make a mess. I am replacing it with another sigg.Read Best Reviews of Crocodile Creek 13.5 oz 13.5 oz Stainless Steel Reusable Drinking Bottle Here
Bought this as a set with our son''s backpack for school and it''s great. Temperature controlled given the steel tube inside. Keeps the water cold, and I''m guessing a hot liquid would stay hot as well. Surprisingly, contrary to most reviews, we have never had any problem washing this in our dishwasher. Not sure if other reviewers have simply not tried it, or tried it and couldn''t get it to work. We have washed this more than a dozen times by now and the bottle is just the same. The only one improvement I would have liked to see is for a small hook or button on the back of the top plastic cap that would hold it in place when opened. With the current design, the plastic cap needs to be held with one hand so that it doesn''t come in the way when drinking water from it. Not the easiest thing to do for smaller kids. If the cap could stay open by itself so that the child can grab he bottle with both hands to drink, that would work a lot better.

I bought this water bottle to pack with my kindergartener''s lunch. I like it because it is stainless steel (and BPA-free). I''ve used it for a year now, and I must admit that I am glad I didn''t purchase another one.PROS: Stainless, BPA-free, easy to use
CONS: Leaks a lot, paint comes off.
I rarely put this water bottle in the dishwasher, so the paint chipping off has just been due to daily use. On the bright side, a little elbow grease and a steel wool pad is pretty effective at removing the paint entirely. The yellow dome lid MUST be on, since the interior lid doesn''t seal very well (doesn''t work at all for a kindergarten kid). I would not buy this product again.
