The worst problem with the older version was that the cap was ill-designed so that the threads were hard to align and wore out quickly.
Next, the paint on the older versions came off easily including in the dishwasher.
Finally, they weren''t all one piece and some reported having trouble with the seam that showed on the outside.
The new bottles have addressed all those issues. The cap is designed much like the Klean Kanteen and works great.
Subzero tells me the paint is now dishwasher safe though they point out that any paint will fade with dishwasher use. I have yet to test mine in the dishwasher.
Finally, the bottles have only one seam (that can be seen if you look inside the bottle) which is like other SS bottles, I believe.
They work great. Subzero confirms that they are not lined with plastic as is the case with some aluminum bottles and they''re reasonably priced. The price, which is so much less than what the others are charging is what gets this bottle the 5th star. SS water bottles are so much better than using plastic for the environment, your health and the taste of the water. It''s about time someone started pricing them realistically.
Edit:
I just saw SubZero bottles in Walgreens for $5 and they came with two caps...one regular one and another with a pull open top like a bike bottle. Good deal. The mouth is wide so ice cubes go in easily and it''s more comfortable to drink from in bumpy situations (like on the bus during your commute). The cap loop is large and comfortable so that a finger or two can hold it easily and comfortably. The bottle is made of thicker steel than more expensive bottles. I paid $18.95 for the Sigg Lifestyle Loop bottle and it dented the first time I dropped it. Not so with this Subzero bottle. I''ve dropped it twice and no dent! I accidentally left it in the freezer and no warping (maybe I just lucked out there :-). I bought this bottle on sale for $3.95. It''s tons better than the more expensive Sigg bottle in both construction and design: wide mouth, large loop, sturdy ring for hooking onto backpack, thick steel wall.

I recently bought 3 of these "stainless steel" water bottles from Walgreens, checked the bottles inside out before buying for any defects, the bottles "look" good, poured water in them, the cap is totally waterprooof BUT after deliberately leaving water in them for about 24 hours to test if it''s rust-proof, I looked inside the bottle & there were multiple small rusty spots in 2 of the 3 bottles, so I returned them all. I think this brand''s bottles are made w/ a poor quality of stainless steel. I have the THERMOS brand stainless steel water bottles which never rusts, yes they are more expensive but well worth it.Read Best Reviews of SubZero 750 ML (25 oz) Stainless Steel Water Bottle Here
Here''s a great stainless steel water bottle. The mouth opening is large enough to put a brush down to clean it out when I use it for iced tea. Well worth the money.Want SubZero 750 ML (25 oz) Stainless Steel Water Bottle Discount?
I like this bottle. It is well designed and I have no problems with it. The thread design is the best I have seen on any bottle like this. Even though it really does nothing for keeping its contents cold or hot, for what it is, it is well worth the money.
