The front pocket holds a signal mirror, duct tape, purification tablets and a Swedish Firesteel Army model.
I bought add ons of a 1.5 inch shoulder strap with a shoulder pad and two Maxpedition Cocoon Pouches which are 2 inches in diameter and 8 inches long. These products make the water bottle a great modular system to add and delete items as necessary based upon your needs.
The breakdown of the Maxpedition Bottle Holder is:
Main compartment: 10" high x 4" diameter, padded, with drainage grommet
Frontal: 6" x 3" x 1.5" with elastic retention PALS attachment webbing
Front and sides Attachments
D-rings for optional shoulder strap Attachment (I highly recommend the shoulder strap)
Utilizes Long Malice clips (sold separately)
Overall another great Maxpedition product when you need minimalist supplies for a hike or other outing. Highly recommended.I bought two of these Maxpedition Bottle Holders. They fit a little snug so if you have a cup that your 32 ounce water bottle fits into, it will be extremely hard to get in and out of the bottle holder. The most disappointing thing about it was that the zippers on both of them are really hard to open and close. Maxpedition always us high quality zippers on their gear, but these are awful. The rest of the materials and workmanship is up to Maxpedition''s high standards. I would not buy them for everyday use as it would be too frustrating to open and close very often. They would be fine for occasional use such as a bug-out-bag or hurricane/earthquake kit.

I am in total agreement with what another reviewer said: the Maxpedition Bottle Holder is a TIGHT fit if you have a cup into which the 32oz bottle fits --but that is not the problem I have nor why I only give this item 2 stars: the zippers are absolutely terrible. In fact, with or WITHOUT anything in the holder, the single top zipper must be fought with to close; then try to get it freed to grab a drink. It takes two strong hands and YOUNG, patient, fingers as well as a fight to open this floppy zipper, which is lighter-duty than my standard jeans zipper that works easily. And the side pouch zipper is almost as reticent to open or close. For the price, this is intolerable. Be aware, no shoulder strap comes with this bag and there are no MOLLE/PALS attachment snap straps on the back. At this price both should be included.
Nonetheless, other than the frightful zippers, the rest of the bag and its construction is acceptable. I will use it for a bit to see if the zippers loosen up, but I have my doubts; might just wind up sewing a snap fastener on the top to keep it closed. Then again, as tolerant as I am ... this just might turn out to be the first item I return in over four decades.

I use this, with a small psk, rat-3 knife, and a guyot bottle, as my woods walking kit. Heavy duty and easy to use. My only complaint is that it didn''t come with a strap!Want Maxpedition Bottle Holder Discount?
I purchased this bottle holder after reading that others had success using it with their Jetboil systems. I am very pleased to say it is a well built pouch that fits my Jetboil Flash like a glove. The case leaves extra room to store an additional Jetboil fuel canister giving you the ability to carry 2 canisters (one inside the Jetboil canister and one outside), as well as utensils an cleaning materials in the front zippered pouch. The fit will be a bit tight at first, don''t hesitate to stretch the case by forcing your Jetboil into it, it''s built tough and can handle it, eventually fitting like it was custom made for it.
I will upload a customer photo if I can that shows the relative size of this case to a Jetboil Flash and illustrates how much I have packed into my Maxpedition Bottle Holder case.
