Aqua Charge Portable Rechargeable PumpI bought this to empty the bilge of an old wooden boat that regularly fills with about 50 gallons of rain water and seepage. The design is well thought out and simple. The rechargeable battery pack, which separates from the pump housing and charges in a cradle, is fully encapsulated. You insert the battery into the pump housing and lock it in with a small turn. Turn it farther and the electrical contacts mate with the motor contacts to run the pump. This is much simpler than having an on-off switch, and probably more reliable. An o-ring seals the electrical contacts so they stay dry when the whole thing is fully submerged. The flow circulates around the motor to cool it. The base is a sturdy detachable strainer. The capacity is surprising: about 5 gallons per minute max at 6 inches head; 4 gpm at 3 feet; 2.5 gpm at 6 ft, zero flow at about 9 ft of head (yep, measured it in the tub). It is quiet and smooth. A few minor gripes.... It could use some ballast weight to stay put hands free. Think I''ll toss some sinkers in strainer base. The hose is a cheap garden variety stiff thing that kinks easily when it bends much. And the outlet fitting should be a 90 degree elbow so the hose exits vertically instead of on the horizontal. These gripes are all easily addressed on my next trip to the hardware store. The NiMH battery is nice because it doesn''t develop a memory like a Nicad. The cordless aspect is wonderful. Claims to run 45 min on a charge (didn''t test that).

Does exactly what it advertised to do. Great for getting water out of sump pump wells and rain barrels. Would definitely recommend to others.

Ideal for removing water from the boat or any area where rain pooling occurs. Lightweight. RAPIDLY removes all but about 1/4" of water before it starts sucking air. Holds charge well surprisingly powerful pump! Leaves and debris do not affect it at all! My only recommendation would be that they provide a more flexible hose because it limits placement and also means you often have to hold it in place (but it''s quick so that is not a big deal for small pools of water). Watch out where you point the outlet hose because output stream is significant. Overall pleased with the purchase. WAY BETTER THAN A HAND PUMP!!

Charger was dead on arrival. This might have been due to transit damage. Phoned "Rule Inc" customer service (obtained through West Marine). Mike was VERY helpful & agreed to send me replacement charger + . I look forward to trying out the pump hoping that customer service was a good sign. I''m so optimistic about product I gave product a 3 stars which I''ll amend up or down depending on performance. Thank you Mike!

We own a piece of property that has a pond but no electric, well, etc. So I bought my husband this little pump to help water plants because lugging water by hand was very tiring and time consuming. This little pump fit the bill. It may not be powerful but it is able to pump water up a small hill as long as the hose was not curled. We recharge it every hour or two of use. The down side of this item is that it is very light weight so sometimes it would flip over on us in the water and if the hose was curled at all it could not pump the water but I expected some issues when I bought it and it does what I need it to do.
