My family knows I own other PMCI S.S. bottles and recently one of them gave me another as a gift. This one is a wide mouth bottle that I didn''t know they carried. While I liked the fine threaded caps on the others I own (no chance of them coming loose) This one has the more common one and a half turns and it is off/on cap. A nylon bushing on the cap compresses when tightened and keeps it tight. Now I have a bottle that I can add ice cubes to. Same high-grade brushed steel that will remain clean looking and take a lot of abuse. The painted bottles always get ratty and unclean looking in just a few weeks. The cap has a new pull-up sipper that allows me to take bigger gulps than my other ones. Also has a comfortable finger hole for the short carry from office to office. I ordered from Amazon one of PMCI''s insulated jackets with shoulder strap for hiking. I''ve had really good luck with these bottles and can tell this one is high quality just like the others.

Great bottle, the other reviews that talk about not working, are not using the bottle correctly....you only need to NOT tighten the cap all the way...leave about 1/4 turn looser than fully tight....this will give just enough room for air to create a vacuum but, because of the gasket it is still liquid tight, if you make it too loose, it will drip a bit, but if you have it at that just right position it will be sealed from leaking but still allow air in for good free flow of liquid...try and you will see :)

The material of the bottle is nice, good quality

The problem is that there is no air valve so the water does not flow out.

I ended up replacing the cap with a new Kleen Canteen cap with a valve and now it works fine.

I''ve been looking for the pull-top water bottles for my three and five year olds to take to school. This one seemed like a great buy except for the shipping (yikes!). So I ended up finding the company''s website and was happy to see that they had a clearance deal (5 bottles for $20 with free shipping). The bottles seem good quality for the price. I agree that the air valve does make a squeeking sound when my three year old uses it but it doesn''t bother me. Only had them for a couple of weeks now but haven''t noticed any sudden malfunctions. I''ll be buying more when we lose most of these at school, playgrounds, other people''s houses.
